Our Nursery
Little Acorns Nursery is an outstanding nursery and pre-school for children aged from 3 months to 5 years.
The award-winning nursery has sole use of a detached, two storey building which boasts two outdoor gardens on the ground floor, a kitchen, office and 3 large rooms designated for play.
All children are provided with nutritious home cooked meals which are cooked on site by our own chef. We regularly take the children on outings to local parks, the library and attractions. This allows them to explore and learn about particular subjects and enables us to give them the best learning experiences available.
The nursery is open from 7.30am-6pm throughout the year including Bank holidays, although it is closed for 2 days at Easter and a week at Christmas.
Little Explorers (3 months - 15 months)
In this room, we take up to 6 babies per day and the adult to child ratio is 1:3, in line with legal guidelines. Within this room we focus strongly on nurturing and supporting babies settling into the nursery environment. With two practitioners working in this room, the Little Explorers become more familiar and settled in this homely and cosy environment.
The environment and resources provided focus strongly on exploratory and sensory play experiences. This area supports babies’ exploration and investigation by offering them a wide variety of sensory and tactile objects. The resources provided support babies to respond in a variety of ways to what they see, hear, smell, touch and feel. We provide different types of sensory treasure baskets; these contain a collection of natural and manufactured resources that will support children’s investigation and exploration.
Little Discoverers (16 months - 2 years)
Catering for 2 – 3 year olds and providing one member of staff for every four children.
In this room, we take up to 9 babies per day and the adult to child ratio is 1:3, in line with legal guidelines. We have Exploratory, Physical and Imaginative experiences for the babies with a Comfortable area for rest and relaxation. We adapt the environment with a range of different activities according to the interests of the Babies and they also have the opportunity to move indoors and outdoors throughout the day!
Little Learners (2 - 3 years)
In our Toddler room, we provide one member of staff for every four children. We take up to 16 children in this room. As Little Learners move into this room they are encouraged to be more independent by serving themselves at meal times and are encouraged to use “self-registration” where they find their photograph and choose a peg in a morning. We support toilet training as we have a bathroom within the room and work alongside parents when the time is right to start toilet training, to ensure your child’s individual needs are supported throughout this time.
In this room, we have more areas of learning and children are encouraged and motivated each day through the stimulating areas that are enhanced regularly according to the needs and interests of the children. Little Learners have Free flow access to their own Outdoor Area.
Little Innovators (3 - 4 years)
In the Little Innovators room, we take 24 children per day, the adult to child ratio is 1:8. The practitioners within this room are highly qualified and experienced in preparing children with the transition to Primary school and reaching those all-important Early Years Outcomes. We provide children in this room with all the confidence, skills, knowledge and a fierce independence that will support that all important first day at school!
